Kathleen Doherty-Peck: Citizen of the Year by the New London Lodge of Elks

THANK YOU—As some of you may know, I was recently named
Citizen of the Year by the New London Lodge of Elks No. 360
at a wonderful banquet last month. I am truly honored to have
been chosen. I received many awards at the banquet: The Elk’s
Distinguished Citizen, The Elk’s Citizen of the Year, Senator Blumenthal’s
Certificate of Recognition, Senator Murphy’s Certificate
of Accomplishment, Proclamation from N.L. Mayor Passero, A
Certificate of Appreciation from Mayor McDaniel &The Town of
Montville presented by Councilors Caron & Jaskiewicz, and an Official
Citation from the State of CT General Assembly presented by
Rep. Ryan and Rep Soto. I was genuinely beside myself. As I was reflecting on receiving
such tremendous awards, I thought of all the wonderful people who work with
me, to do all that I do, and wanted to give my THANKS. As I cannot and do not do the
things that I do by myself; it takes many of us to help make our community strong, care
for those in need, and support our seniors! I would like to thank all who help me and
give so freely. I can’t name everyone as I would be very upset if I unintentionally leave
someone out, please know that I offer my sincerest appreciation for all that you do! I
would like to give a special thank you to my family—EVERY MEMBER as each one
not only helps me throughout the year in many of my endeavors and often think I am
crazy for some of my undertakings (though willingly get roped in to help!) and also give
of their time and effort to our Town in so many other ways! I would like to thank my
dedicated and loyal staff, whom I consider my close friends; Always by my side working
hard to help make all of the events, programs, & craziness go smooth! I would like
to thank all of the dedicated volunteers that help so much in social services AND my
wonderful senior volunteers, who work so hard on every event and program we do! I
also consider many to be dear friends. I would also like to thank our Town Officials for
all of their continued support; Councilor Caron for all he does! I am truly thankful to the
New London Elks, all of the local and state Representatives for the awards and honors.
I am so blessed to have all of my family and friends by my side daily, enjoying the wonderful
roller coaster ride we are all on. Thank you. -Kathleen Doherty-Peck
