President’s Day Closure

The senior center will be closed on Monday, February 20th for President’s Day

February TVCCA Cafe Menu

Our Monday Café Program is pleased to announce our menu selections for
the month of February. They are:

February 6th: Country Style Chicken, Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes, Corn
w/Peppers & Onions, Tropical Fruit Cup, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.
February 13th: American Chop Suey, Diced Carrots, Snap Peas, Bread,
Margarine Beverage and Fresh Orange.
February 20th: President’s Day, program CLOSED.
February 27th: Steamed Pork Dumplings, Jasmine Rice, Broccoli, Peppers &
Mushrooms, Sweet Treat, Apple Juice, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.

Persons who are 60 years of age and older are welcome to participate in the
Café Program. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 per person. Individuals
younger than sixty are welcome but a higher meal cost will be charged to those
individuals. For additional information or to make a meal reservation, please
contact the Senior Center at 860-889-0770 on Monday (9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) or
Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The program is
open to residents and non-residents alike.

AARP Tax Assistance Appointments

Wednesday, February 8th and 22nd, March 8th and 22nd and April 5th

Available time slots are 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.

 

The AARP Tax Assistance Program has several appointment openings
available.

The program will be held at the Preston Senior Center, 42 Long Society Road

Appointment availability is based on a first come, first serve basis. Questions
regarding necessary documentation may be directed to the Senior Affairs Office at 860-887-5581 ext.6.

Remember, this is a FREE service provided by extremely well trained and qualified tax counselors.

Over The Hill Hiking Group: February Hikes

Hikers from other towns are welcome to participate.

Medium hikes may have a few hills, rocks or beach sand. The difficult hike is more strenuous; participants must have completed two medium hikes with the group before enrolling into a difficult hike.

All hikes are approximately three to four miles long, and will begin at 9:30 A.M.
Hikers who wish to carpool should meet at East Lyme Senior Center at 9:00 A.M.

Distances, locations and leaders are subject to change, if necessary.

All hikers must register for each hike by calling the East Lyme Senior Center – 860-739-5859.

Hikers are to bring water and sturdy shoes; and lunch, insect repellant and sunscreen if desired

ROMEO Club at Longhorn Steakhouse

Senior Center Fun Trips use a bus from the Center for transport to and from destination. # of seats very limited.

AARP Mature Driver Safety Class

Wednesday, March 1st from 9:15am-1:15pm

$20 for AARP member  –  $25 for non-AARP member
Register with the Senior Center office. Payment due upon registration

 

The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. Contact your insurance company to find out. And you will learn something new along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned.
