Every Thursday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

No fee. Let us know you’re coming.

Limited supplies provided by the Senior Center or bring your own coloring paper and pencils. Come and join us for a relaxing afternoon. Soft music in the background, socialization with new friends – what could be nicer?

New Horizon’s Band of the Community Music School

Join us on December 6th at 1:00pm as the  New Horizon’s Band of  the Community Music School performs various marches, show tunes, classics and seasonal music for us. This all Seniors band is a reminder to us, that you are never too old to pick up an instrument.

Pneumonia, Shingles, Tdap Vaccinations

On December 6th from 11:00am-1:00pm, Big Y Pharmacy Representatives will be here offering Pneumonia, Shingles, Tdap (for whooping cough) vaccinations. Please note that most of your patients over 65 should have Medicare Part B and the pneumonia vaccine would be covered. If a patient is not covered under Part B, then they may have a Medicare Part D plan that would cover the vaccine. Patients under 65 may have private plans that would cover the vaccine, as well. Anyone interested in receiving any of these shots please call (860)434-1605 ext. 240 to sign up to ensure they bring enough serum and also get an insurance quote for any out of pocket expenses..

Basics to Email Class

Join us on December 5 at 1:00pm for a Basics to Email Class. In this class we will explore how to create and set up an email account, add contacts, compose a message and so much more. This 2 hour class is open to all seniors. Limited space is available. Call (860)434-1605 ext. 240 to register. Laptops and class instructions are funded by a grant from the Lyme-Old Lyme Education Foundation.

Join us on November 22nd at 12:45pm for the Movie “Police Academy”. This comedy is about a group of good-hearted but incompetent misfits enter the police academy, but the instructors there are not going to put up with their pranks.

VIRTUAL DEMENTIA TOUR®

VIRTUAL DEMENTIA TOUR®

Join us on November 14th from 5-7 pm for a VIRTUAL DEMENTIA TOUR®. The Virtual Dementia Tour® is an individual experience through simulated dementia created for families, organizations and companies seeking to better understand the physical and mental challenges of those with dementia. The Virtual Dementia Tour was created by Atlanta-based Second Wind Dreams® and will be presented by Kindred at Home. This program is free. ADT Health Services Presentation

Eric Bergers from ADT Health Service will be here on Friday, November 4th at 1:00pm to explain how different Medical Alert System models work. If you were thinking about getting a Medical Alert system you may wish to attend this informational session.

Watercolor Class: New

Watercolor- Tuesdays 10 am to 12 noon, Nov 8th to Dec 20th/ 7 week class $35. This is open to students of all levels. We will explore the basic watercolor techniques of working with washes, layering, and drybrush. We will also spend time learning to mix colors. The instructor will do demos and help students learn how to use values to develop strong compositions. Once you learn the basics you can experiment and play with this medium to express your ideas with paint. To first class bring what you have for paper, brushes, pencils, cup for water, paper towels (if you have watercolors and palette bring, if not you can use our supplies. We will go over the supply list with paints to buy in the first class.

ART CLASSES

TAUGHT BY INSTRUCTOR SHARON SCHMIEDEL

Sharon has a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She works in watercolor, acrylics, and collage. These works are energetic and expressive; it is the opposite direction from the many years she spent working in technical illustration, medical illustration, and graphic design. She is currently painting, exhibiting her artwork, and teaching. To register for either class below call Stephanie at 860 434-1605 ext.240
