Learn Facebook

Learn to make a Facebook Class  Learn the ins and outs of the popular social networking site, Facebook. Dive right into finding friends and family, writing a post, and navigating the security settings.  On Monday, July 11th from 1-3 p.m., we will be holding a free 2 hour class open to all seniors.  Limited space available.  Call (860)434-1605 ext. 240 to register.  Laptops and class instructions are funded by a grant from the Lyme Old Lyme Education Foundation.

Join us for some good food and great fun . . . Country Style! With “Chef Mike” working the grill, it’s an event not to be missed! The menu includes BBQ chicken legs, hot dogs, salads, chips, drinks and dessert. Following the picnic, stay for Country Western musical entertainment performed by Clayton Allen.

Lions Scholarship Benefit

On August 4th at 6:00pm we will have the Lions Club selling Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and other food items to benefit their Scholarship Fund.  Come for dinner and stay for the concert!!

Summer Concert: Doo-Wop Revue

FREE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES: THE CORVETTES DOO-WOP REVUE BAND Join us on July 7t at 7:00pm. All ages welcome!!  Bring your chairs, blankets, dinner, etc. the performances will be held out on the lawn (weather permitting) or inside if the weather is inclement.  A free ice cream social sponsored by the Old Lyme Democratic Town Committee will follow.

Neck and Shoulder Dysfunction

Do you experience neck and shoulder pain?  Select Physical Therapy will be giving a free lecture on Neck & Shoulder Dysfunction on Tuesday, July 5th at 1:00 pm. He will discuss common signs and symptoms and pain patterns associated with injuries and degenerative factors of the neck and shoulder.  Collin will also teach you safe exercises and proper forms of treatment to help decrease your pain and increase your everyday activities.

History of Groton/New London Submarine Base

History of the Groton/ New London Submarine Base Please join us on July 12th at 1:00pm as we celebrate Connecticut’s Submarine Century with a look back at the history of the submarine base. Eury Cantillo, Director of Education at the Submarine Force Museum, has combed the Museum’s collection to create a photographic journey through history.  The tour will include aerial photos through the decades, pictures of President Franklin Roosevelt’s visit in 1940, early historic views of the base including the evolution of the waterfront and memories from each era from 19th century through the Cold War. Learn why Groton was chosen to be the site of the country’s first submarine base and why Groton is the “Submarine Capital of the World.”  To register for this free program please call (860)434-1605 ext. 240.

AARP Drive Safety Class will be held on Friday, July 1st from 1:00 pm- 5:00 pm.  Call (860)434-1605 ext. 240 to sign up.  Cost is $15.00 for members/ $20.00 for nonmembers. Checks written to AARP only, no cash will be accepted.
